Poe's Detective

Edgar Allan Poe is the undisputed originator of the Detective story. His brilliant, imaginative sleuth C. Auguste Dupin, created before the word "detective" had been coined, set the stage for eccentric, logic wielding investigators like Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot.
