Schubert & Bridge: Sonaten für Piano und Cello
Mstislav Rostropovich & Benjamin Britten
Few musicians are able to combine beauty and intensity as credibly and coherently as cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and pianist Benjamin Britten demonstrate on this recording. The Hybrid SACD from Esoteric combines two concert recordings by those two exceptional artists: Schubert's "Sonata for Arpeggione and Piano in A minor, D. 821" was recorded from July 22 to 27, 1968 in the "Snape-Maltings" concert hall (Aldeburgh, UK). Debussy's "Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor" and Schumann's "Five Pieces in a Folk Style, Op. 102" were recorded from July 19-21, 1961 at Kingsway Hall (London, UK). Thanks to Esoteric's proprietary DSD-remastering process, the limited edition reissue offers such a wonderfully lifelike sound that, if you close your eyes, you can almost picture the players in your own room.
Esoteric's reissue of classical music masterpieces has attracted a great deal of attention worldwide. The uncompromising commitment to restoring and remastering the original tapes, as well as the use of Hybrid Super Audio CD technology to enhance sound quality, makes all Esoteric releases a must-have for all lovers of classical music!
