"I've never played in front of an audience like this," Art Blakey declared in tears. It was November 22, 1958, and he had just come off stage after one of the "Jazz Wednesdays" concerts at the Olympia in Paris. For a first appearance of the "Jazz Messengers," the musicians had made a strong impression. Not content with drawing a huge crowd away from the Boulevard des Capucines (the demand was so great that a second concert had to be organized on December 17), they had converted everyone to "hard bop" in two concerts, putting jazzers, jazz lovers and onlookers alike in high spirits.

Double LP with three recorded sides. Recorded in Paris on November 22 and December 17, 1958.

Benny Golson (ts), Lee Morgan (tr), Bobby Timmons (p), Jimmy Merritt (b), Art Blakey (dr) We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
