The Hungarian composer Miklós Rozsa rejected several sketches for a violin concerto early in his career until, in the 1950s, he realised that all his great idols had written their concertos for a particular artist. So he contacted Heifetz through Emanuel Bay, who agreed to look at his composition. The collaboration began, and on 15 January 1956, his Violin Concerto, Op. 24, had its world premiere with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Walter Hendl and Jascha Heifetz on the violin. Both artists received standing ovations and Rózsa, one of the most important film composers, showed that he is not only at home in popular music. This compilation, with the better known recording of Arthur Benjamin's Romantic Fantasy, has become famous under the RCA label number LSC-2767.

The hybrid SACD contains a 3-channel mix of the Romantic Fantasy and a 2-channel stereo mix of the Violin Concerto. The original analogue tapes were remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound's studios.

We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
