This profile of revolutionary vibraphonist Lionel Hampton takes viewers back through his amazingly successful 73-year career. Historic film footage of Hampton playing with a series of jazz heroes (including Betty Carter, Teddy Wilson, Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, and Milt Buckner) explore the huge role that Hampton played in incorporating the vibraphone into jazz music. Here to speak about Hampton's career and the man himself are a number of talented musicians including Mike Mainieri and percussionist Steve Smith.
