The Shapes of My Meaning Emily LC

Our inner and outer worlds are sometimes quite difficult to separate. The very texture of the earth under our feet may be altered by a slight from someone we've trusted; the sky may be expansive or oppressive depending on the subject matter of our most recent dream. Our friend, the tree, may have appeared to leer at us in a moment of vulnerability, but comes to comfort us when we turn to it for shade. These poems concern this play of the inside and the outside. Pain and pleasure-whether acute or chronic, physical or emotional-draw lines within and without us, creating the shapes by which we make sense of ourselves.
