Portrait of a Daughter Liz Papazian

In Portrait of a Daughter, a woman breaks a cycle of self-destruction, allowing her to feel her departed mother as a presence, not a void. Set in nineteen-eighties New York City, Grace Clancy comes of age as she suffers the death of her mother at age sixteen. Raised by her alcoholic father and iron-fisted grandmother, Grace moves through unstable relationships and turmoil with unshakeable fortitude. From the glitzy nightlife of dance clubs to dangerous living conditions to life in a new city, Grace finally transforms her trauma into triumph. This is a novel about loss, female strength, and the power of resilience and faith.
