Ruby has asked this since the death of her parents at a young age. Things never seemed to be fair. Trouble haunts Ruby wherever she goes, including seeing things that clearly don't exist. While she is uncertain why she gets picked on or why strange things seem to happen to her, she always pushes on thanks to her uncle, Kyle Croft. He has been devoted to her since she came into his care.

A new school brings a fresh start for Ruby. There, she hopes the troubles will stop following her so she can make new friends. Trouble arises when she finds the school's most beloved teacher against her. Confused about why this is happening, she doesn't realize more is at play than ever before. After one startling incident, Ruby is faced with a terrible predicament.

Ruby has no choice but to run from her actions. She finds sanctuary at Habend Academy. There, she starts a quest to learn who she is. While she starts to settle in to her new home, she doesn't realize what is in store for her. Some questions are better left unanswered...
