This book is a compilation of writings on the topic of applying the theory of Bourdieu to education. It looks at various aspects of education, from schools to communities to the individuals who contribute to building successful relationships and learning opportunities within learning environments. This book addresses education in several settings, from early education to postsecondary education settings. It provides rich analysis of key case settings, and in doing so offers recommendations for future policy and practice development. As education is a fluid notion, its processes are constantly changing in response to our developing philosophies both within the field of education, and its accompanying socioeconomic disciplines. I hope that this book will help instructors, researchers, graduate students and preservice teachers, as well as community members, to continue in their chosen roles with the knowledge that they are all heard and valued as important members of the community of learning.
