Human Perception on Green Psychology in Public Spaces: a Comparative Study Between French and Indonesians Living in the Cities

The study is to compare pro environmental perception towards public spaces in developed and developing country, between French and Indonesians to draw some psychological profiles on the most actual issues, Green Psychology, as it reveals the need of green space (n-Green). 356 French of 7 cities and 809 Indonesian of 9 cities were participated in the study. All subjects were given the G-PubS/V-ALPs to measure individual perception towards green factors in public spaces to satisfy their psychological needs in three different ways; 1) for Mental Development, 2) for Social Interaction, and 3) for Physical Health, where high n-Green indicates great need for green space. The research found the correlation between n-Green and demographic variables. ANOVA used to find differences between both societies where some variables show the same results for the most in- need and the least in-need groups for green space, but some show the opposite. There were also differences between Northern and Southern French on their n-Green and perceptions. Differences also occurred regarding city scales and the ICT development affected the n-Green in both countries.
