Windmills served ones to grind grain, pump water and for other jobs but today windmills are mostly used to generate electricity when harnessed to electric generators and commonly referred to as wind turbines. Wind is simply Air in motion. The Earth's winds contain vast amounts of energy. Today, advanced wind turbines offer an efficient means of capturing wind energy and using it to produce electricity. A windmill is a machine that converts the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical rotary energy by using rotating blades. Wind turbines have two or three long, light-weight blades that turn quickly. The longer the blade and the greater the wind speed, the more electricity generated. The purpose of this project is to design and fabricate a wind turbine to increase mechanical efficiency of wind turbine by changing the length, shape and different pitch angle of turbine blade.
