The coating of tablets and pellets is a commonly utilised process in the pharmaceutical industry and has been used for centuries. The application of a coating may be required for aesthetics or functionality. During the coating process, various parameters must be monitored due to their effect on the final product and the yield. The yield, being an indicator of the efficiency of a process, is an important component of the process. By improving the yield, a process is made more efficient and economically viable. This book gives an insight onto the effect of the various process parameters on the coating process and how to improve the yield of a pan-coating process. The research described in this book was carried out on a batch production of slow release pellets using a non-perforated coating pan.
