Neutralization of venom by physical agents, a technique, which would specifically destroy the venom toxicity and not cause any physiological imbalance, was envisaged. The electrical field generated in the shock treatment probably causes structural impairments in venom components ? the consequent altered interactions with the target tissue / system as indicated by the death postponement vouch for such possibilities. The high voltage treatment is likely to disturb the electrical charge properties, van der waals interactions and break weak bonds in toxin structure to induce conformational changes. Such alterations are likely to increase and destabilize the toxin conformations further with increasing high voltage leading to reduction in toxicities of venoms. This book includes the information regarding any treatment that is likely to postpone the death is desirable, in vivo neutralization of snake venome potency using high voltage ? low current shock treatment has been attempted.
