The Legend of the Stone Children Mr Herb G Bjarnason

Have you ever heard of the petrified forest in California? It consists of trees that have turned into stone through a process called petrifaction. Could this happen to children? Many Indigenous (Native American) stories and myths involve an interesting character called Weesageechak (spellings vary). He is a trickster who can change into different shapes, birds, animals etc. and do mischievous things and play tricks on people. He plays a central role in this story. Would you like to learn a few Cree words? You will find a few in this story. How does an old grandmother feed eight hungry orphan children? Can a tree have feelings like we do? These are some of the things you can read about in this book!
