Arthur Buist ( -1810) of Pittuncarty

Although a record of his baptismal record does not exist Arthur Buist was the eldest son of Henry Buist (1762-1822) and would inherit the lands of Pittuncarty, Abernethy Parish, Fife by 1794 at a young age. He was listed as a principal Heritor of Fife in the year of 1803. Buist would never marry and spent his years at Pittuncarty as an agriculturalist. Arthur Buist lived through the height of the Scottish Enlightenment when new science was being brought to bear on Scottish agriculture. He was also named as a Trustee and Curator of his uncle's, George Buist (1750-1797) estate in 1796. This then is the narrative of the life and times of Arthur Buist.
