Mine, Yours, His, Her...Decisions
A Alico
Sixteen-year-old Alexis believes her parents can't possibly understand what she's going through. Her father means well but never defends her from her mother's criticism. Alexis's mom constantly analyzes every action, every sentence, and every wardrobe choice. Alexis feels stifled under the constant scrutiny.
Her best friends decide that the best way to get her out of her funk is to take her to the party of the year. To sweeten the deal, they mention that Anthony, Alexis's crush, will be there.
Although shy, Alexis hits it off with Anthony, but she doesn't want to do anything more than flirt. Anthony has other plans, though, and takes advantage of Alexis while she's drugged, turning a supposedly festive occasion into a horrifying nightmare.
After the assault, Alexis is depressed and withdraws from her family and friends. She can't stand the thought of her mother judging her.
Alexis wants to stop this one unspeakable incident from destroying her life but isn't sure how to do so. However, as she navigates new relationships with her family members, finds friends willing to stand up for her, and discovers a fresh passion in life, she gradually discovers how strong she truly is.
