A Fight for Hope

Matthew lived a fairly good life, until one day, things drastically changed. When Matthew was thirteen, his mother, Hellen, was involved in a fatal car accident. That was when his life changed for the worse. Michael, Matthew's father, couldn't handle the pain of losing his wife and having to raise his three children alone. Grief took over him, causing him to become an alcoholic. Eventually, he began neglecting and even abusing his children. Being the oldest, Matthew stepped up to the plate to provide for his younger siblings, Huey and Haven, often stealing food to provide a meal. One day, while in the store stealing, he was caught by the store owner, Mr. Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs decided not to call the police because he recognized how troubled Matthew was. Instead, he decided to give him a job and teach him a better way of life. That proved to be exactly what Matthew needed. With Mr. Jacobs' help, he was able to turn his life around. He no longer had to fight for hope because he'd finally found the love and peace he needed.
