He served in the British Army's Royal Corps of Signals, a specialist unit wherein soldiers are selected and highly trained, not only in their particular skills, but also in leadership, planning, and teamwork. He left the British Army in 2003 to pursue a career on the private military circuit. He continues to work on the circuit and is presently Security Manager for an oilrig off the coast of Iraq.
