Ebenezer Prout
John Williams' missionary work in the islands around Tahiti and Rarotonga was largely successful and he was the first to introduce Christianity to Samoa. His violent death in 1839 at the hands of cannibals inspired much popular literature, of which this 1843 biography is an important example.
