Would they be left alone?

"Joy's book" is a series of humorous and tender stories about the different fears and difficulties that children have in the first years of their life, such as the one that is felt before the arrival of a brother, the one to go through the hole of the bathtub when the water is removed, the death of a loved one, etc. There is no limit to the imagination and everything is possible following the narrative logic of the initial problem. All the stories are made from the child's perspective and the high dramatic content of the situations they face is faithfully reflected in them. In the story "Would they be left alone?" the parents of the protagonist decide to separate and the girl suffers anguish and terrible fears of abandonment until she finally speaks with her father and he clarifies things, so that she can elaborate the traumatic event. The perspective of the story is completely focused on the girl and everything is seen through her eyes. A book full of empathy with the child in the difficult moment of her parents' separation and that helps her to elaborate the situation successfully. Julio Millares won the Vargas Llosa prize for novels and the Imaginaria magazine prize for children's stories. He lived in Brazil, Italy, France, Mexico and Sweden and then returned to his native Argentina. He is a professor in the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Cuyo.
