Melissa Marcus is back home following a somewhat dangerous, yet exciting, journey into the past. She was transported back to Ancient Rome where she had a tumultuous affair with the infamous Mark Antony. Having fled the city in the wake of Julius Caesar's assassination, she returned to the present day and the Italian estate where the misty doorway to the past is located. A frightening discovery of an intruder in her home leads Melissa to realise that the past has been altered. In his desperate search to find Melissa, Mark Antony has changed his own destiny. He will no longer commit suicide, dying in the arms of his lover, Cleopatra, but will be murdered by Caesar's assassins. As the present begins to unravel, Melissa is forced to leave the idyllic bliss of her home and go back in time once again to put right the damage she has inadvertently caused. On her return to the past, Melissa discovers Mark Antony in a desperate state. Drunk and defeated and ousted from power, his confidence is shot. As he is about to embark on a difficult military campaign, Melissa must find a way to lift his spirits before he marches his army to its destruction. As old passions rise to the fore, will Melissa be able to set Mark Antony on the right path allowing destiny to be fulfilled, or will history be rewritten forevermore?
