The Politics of Vulnerability and Trust : Methodological Tools for Rethinking Educational Practices
Anne B. Reinertsen
This book is about thinking the world politically and putting such thinking to work in educational spaces. This implies reclaiming an educational mother-tongue and enacting methodologies that enable practices which always ask what a word/s might hold in the now. The text moves between being ‘at home’ and the risk of being estranged and offers a space of academic hard talking to avoid education being ‘sloganized’.
Trust and vulnerability being constitutive of scholarly/academic life. Based on post perspectives theoretically and methodologically, the book offers a view of education in general, Education 5.0 specifically and of educators when having opportunities to work in ways that give wit/h/ness to the ‘other’ and enact pedagogies of continuity and change they are enabled to resist being positioned as passive, technologically and politically constructed. They are enabled to resist any expectations/assumptions that they are ‘politized program implementors’ and enabled to view themselves as political, agentic beings/educators in the moment.
Educators can be forces in their own right; transformative enactors of their own fluid, relational autonomies; powerful and political in the ‘here and now’. That is educators can both sense and view themselves as educators with force or power to educate. This book is intended for everyone that work with education practically, theoretically, technologically and politically.
It offers method at different levels inclusive of governance and leadership. Research wise it is relevant at multiple levels and particularly for those exploring inter- and transdisciplinary scientific perspectives.
