Baron Trump's Marvellous Underground Journey (Annotated)

Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-Baron Trump's novels are two children's novels written in 1889 and 1893 by the American author and lawyer, Ingersoll Lockwood. They remained in the dark until 2017, when they received media attention because of the similarities between the protagonist and President Donald Trump and his son, Barron Trump. Lockwood published the first novel, Travels and adventures of Little Baron Trump and his wonderful dog Bulger, in 1889, and its sequel, Baron Trump's Marvelous Underground Journey, in 1893. The novel tells the adventures of the German child, Wilhelm Heinrich Sebastian Von Troomp, who calls himself "Baron Trump", while discovering strange underground civilizations, offends the natives, runs away from his entanglements with local women and repeats that same pattern until he gets home to Castle Trump. The novels were part of a fashion of a type of literature that responded to the demand for adventure books started with the work of Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland (1865). However, they were received indifferently and did not enter the canon of children's literature. A critic in 1891 wrote: "The author works through 300 pages of fantastic and grotesque narrative, occasionally hitting a spark of ingenuity; but the flame emits little light and one has to grope for history."
