Starving for Affirmation

Starving for Affirmation
Gary Schulz
Affirmation is a fundamental aspect of each person's soul as created by God. It is the recognition of our value to one another as we seek to live together as one. Affirmation connects us as a functional body. We all long for affirmation, and we all seek it. And for the most part, we are all starving for it to varying degrees. Affirmation has the power to build others up, and withholding it has the ability to tear others down. Worse yet, we can reduce the perceived value of others with disgust, anger, degrading words, neglect and abuse. Many suffer the pain of feeling disvalued, which can cripple our lives for many years. Affirmation cannot be earned; it must be freely given. How can we become affirmed if we cannot strive for it? How can we affirm others? This is a biblical study that addresses these questions.
