Each braid is characterized by its level of difficulty; “Easy”, “Medium” and “Difficult” and how long it takes to braid and the things you need.
On the historical fact pages you can read which historical sources Annette Collin used as inspiration for her Viking braids;
- "Freya, the goddess of the Vikings", Freya had a symbol just like Thor and Odin. Odin had his one eye, and Thor had his famous hammer, Mjölnir, and it is believed that Freya's distinguishing features were her hair and braids. A find from the Viking Age in Denmark was made in Denmark at Tisso, near the town of Kalundborg. made in the form of a silver pendant depicting a woman twisting her hair. The image is interpreted to symbolize the goddess Freya. It is a very special find because the figure represents Freya's entire body and you can clearly see that she is braiding her braids.
- The fantastic find of "Sven Forbbeard´s coin" As the first Danish king, he had a coin minted with his own image around 995, probably in Haithabu (source 2). A cross was embossed on the other side of the coin.
- In addition, you can also read the famous written source by the Arab traveler At-Tartushi who visited Hedeby around 950 AD and recorded his experiences of meeting the Vikings.
Have fun ❤️
