The Social and Legal Crisis of Juvenile Delinquency
Juan Camilo Mejía Cuadros
Juvenile delinquency must be approached from a legal and social perspective, due to the high rates of juvenile offenders who engage in criminal conduct, which is why it is of utmost importance to study it and the repercussions it generates for the solution of the contingencies faced by adolescents in the country, especially those generated in the lower strata, where these disputes occur daily, in addition to criminal conduct such as theft, rape and extortion, which involve minors as perpetrators of punishable conduct. These problems are exacerbated by school dropouts, lack of interest in school and illiteracy among criminal groups, which in most cases recruit minors who are in difficult economic situations and see easy money as a solution to their problems. The Colombian State, in order to provide legal security and well-being for the country's minors, is implementing a criminal policy that seeks to counteract unlawful conduct that harms society.
