The book explores representations of Tribal India in narratives stretching from the colonial period to the contemporary times. Works of writers such as Rudyard Kipling, Verrier Elwin, John Masters, Arun Joshi, Kamala Markandaya, Gita Mehta, Gopinath Mohanty, K. Shivarama Karanth, Mahasweta Devi and many tribal writers such as Laxman Gaikwad, C. K Janu and Narayan have been examined to understand the issues of reprentations in them.
