The 'BE' Attitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3A little over two-thousand years ago, a young rabbi sat on a mountainside and began to teach. What He taught was like nothing the audience had ever heard before. Blessed were the poor, the mournful, the peacemakers? To the Israelites and gentiles who listened, the words flowed over them and by the power of the Holy Spirit, new hope in the love of a Heavenly Father was illuminated. Jesus, the very creator of all things, showed them what was needed to see the kingdom of God and the lessons are as meaningful and necessary today as they were centuries ago. The Beatitudes show a dark and sin-filled world what the Lord of heaven expects from His children and are a beacon to light the way for any human heart to see the heavenly kingdom, both here and at the second coming of Christ.
