Cityscapes tinged with the deepened hues of dusk; the subtle slip of seasons discerned in the "brush of amber against the gray bark", or the silence of an amusement park. These quiet observations, reflective as well as perceptive, unfold page after page - a rich tapestry of sensations against a backdrop of the metropolis. Familiar sights, scents and scenes, which had been relegated to the city-dweller's subconscious, are once more revealed and brought to the fore, reminding us that we do not live outside of time, in the steel viscera of a fabricated city. Slowly, sensuously, like people learning to walk again, de las Casas makes us remember what it is to be human.
