Lily's Promise

Following the untimely death of her parents, Lily Collins is forced to leave the only home she has ever known and journey to London. Hoping to fulfill her father's dream of selling fruits and vegetables from a handcart in Covent Garden, she first must overcome those in authority who would try to keep her down. The sinister manager of her parents' tenant farm demands she pay their debt and leaves her in a life-altering state. An unscrupulous housekeeper threatens to devastate Lily with the most diabolical of lies from which she may never be able to recover. Only the kindly George and Ada Cole provide solace and friendship to help Lily in her darkest hour. But will it prove impossible to turn her fortunes around in the harsh reality of Victorian London.
