Blood in the Sand - the Holden Beach Incident

During the early days of WWII, the German high command orchestrated a daring plan to send three saboteurs to a large army base on the eastern coast of the U. S. Their plan was to blow up a munitions plant at Fort Bragg, N. C. The attack, code name "Base Bust", would have no military value but was designed only as a propaganda scheme to incite fear and panic among the residents living along the coast. During the week of the planned attack, the Edwards family found themselves vacationing on the beautiful strip island of Holden Beach, but little did they realize Nazi saboteurs had set up their base of operation in a cottage next to theirs. One of the agents, Karl Hess, made a decision to betray his comrades and expose the mission, after which he found refuge with the Edwards family. When the other agents learned one of their own had betrayed them, the situation quickly became dangerous for Karl and his new found friends. The turncoat became a hunted man who would have to pay for betraying the Nazi cause. The events would lead to a struggle and a terrifying shootout which caught nationwide attention.
