Allen Harris is a pillar of the community, a married lawyer of spotless reputation who is asked to be the president of a conservative university. The last president had been fired for engaging in a sexual affair with a student.

He is to be vetted by the Board of Directors. They want to be confident that there is nothing in Harris' past that will cause another scandal. He assures the board that he has never engaged in adulterous or clandestine affairs.

In his practice, he had secretly engaged in a series of extramarital affairs in other cities. To keep these relationships under wraps, he must find these women and make sure they'll keep their sexcapades a secret.
