Fortune's Favour: Politics Make Strange Bedfellows. These Are Just Plain Weird.

Politics make strange bedfellows. These are just plain weird. Meyer Casterbridge is a war hero, rugged outdoorsman, morally incorruptible and incredibly wealthy. He decides to run for State Senator, enlisting vastly wealthy Ruth Hammerall, Reggie Player to help him. Hubert Hauberk, who owns a store, also signs on. Ruth and Reggie look down on him, and he's uncomfortable with them. Then Meyer falls in love with Naomi Shelikan, a reporter covering his campaign. Events soon turn nasty.
